The Antigonish Reel
An independent, privacy-respecting community information utility for Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
The Reel is built to be useful day-to-day — a place to find and share what is happening in Antigonish, without the engagement mechanics, tracking, and data harvesting that come with large social platforms. Not a startup product. A community utility.
What the Reel is for
Antigonish already has things worth knowing about — events, local businesses, community organisations, notices, and conversations that matter to people who live here. What was missing was a single place that worked well for all of it, one not run by a company based somewhere else, not optimised for keeping you scrolling, and not treating your attention as a product to be sold.
The Reel fills that gap. A practical local information utility, built in Antigonish, for Antigonish. Reliable, low-noise, and worth checking daily.
Part of the Baile Fios network
Baile Fios is the parent framework for this kind of work. The Antigonish Reel is the first local instance — and the clearest example of what Baile Fios looks like when it is built for a community rather than a single client. Future towns will have their own Reels under the same framework.
The Reel went live in June 2026. See it for yourself at antigonishreel.ca.
